Litigation Updates

In February 2021, a proposed class action was commenced against St. Thomas More Collegiate, Vancouver College Ltd., The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Vancouver, The Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation of St. John’s and The Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese.

The action alleges abuse (physical and/or sexual) by former Christian Brothers faculty in the period 1976 to 2013 at Vancouver College and St. Thomas More Collegiate. (see Feb. 8, 2021 School Communications)

On March 8, 2023, we received news that the Supreme Court of British Columbia has found that the certification request has been granted approval to proceed as a class action.

We remain committed to do all that we can to best support our community and anyone impacted. We take this matter very seriously. For enquiries please email communications@vancouvercollege.ca or contact our President, Michelle Rupp directly at mrupp@vancouvercollege.ca.
