Alumni Past Events

On Saturday, May 5, 2018, we had another successful hockey evening at the Doug Mitchell rink out at UBC. With dwindling registration due to a variety of factors beyond our control, we needed to alter the format of the event from a four-team tournament to a single game with two teams. Our good friends at UBC thankfully worked with us and we were able to shuffle our ice times around to accommodate. It all worked out perfectly!

We have another successful hockey tournament to add to the record books! On Saturday, May 6, 2017, four teams of determined alumni laced up the skates and stepped on the ice for the 10th annual alumni hockey tournament at UBC. That’s right…10th annual!

We have another successful hockey tournament to add to the record books! On Saturday, May 7, 2016, four teams of determined alumni laced up the skates and stepped on the ice for the 9^th annual alumni hockey tournament at UBC. Who would take the cup home this year?

This year’s edition of the hockey tournament was one of the tightest competitions in the history of the event. After the success of last year’s four team format, this years edition followed up with another competitive event.

On Saturday, May 4, 2019 we had one of the most thrilling Alumni Hockey games!  It was one that will live long in the lore of this annual event. Team Purple and Team Gold put on an amazing display of skill, resolve, and sportsmanship.

There was a great mix of players in both ability and age.  The two teams, Team Purple and Team Gold, were evenly matched and looked great out on the ice with those sweet VC jerseys.  Team Gold was comprised of the youngest and most ‘experienced’ players. Team Purple was heavily stacked with the best of the 1990s and the well represented Class of 2010.  When the puck dropped, the action took off!
