VC’s Sports Hall of Fame is initiated by Bruce Jagger, Executive Director of the VC Millennium Foundation from 2003 to 2006 and Honorary Alumnus (2022), with the support of veteran teacher and Irish fan, Jim Canil. The award recognizes those who excelled at athletic endeavours or made a significant contribution to Irish Athletics. The first group of inductees include alumni Jack Boreham (VC 1948), Roy Cameron (VC 1959), Reg Clarkson (VC 1944), Bob Lasko (VC 1948), Doug McLoughlin (VC 1941), Cal Murphy (VC 1950), and Neil Williscroft (VC 1964), as well as faculty member and legendary football coach, Greg Kabat.

The Irish Review is organized as a quarterly community newsletter, with an Alumni News section. The Irish Review presents interesting articles on the Alumni community, including features on specific Alumni, as well as reminders of upcoming reunions.

The Emerald Awards and Sports Hall of Fame are combined and relaunched as the Hall of Honour. Initiated by Bruce Jagger and supported by then Principal Brother Anthony Murphy, this award is a recognition of alumni and members of the community at large who contributed towards not only athletics but also other fields of endeavour, including the Arts, Academics, Business, Religious Life, Social Justice, Science, and Service. The inductees’ exemplary service, performance, and achievements are such that they reflect credit on or significantly impacted the Vancouver College community.

June 9th marks the inaugural Alumni Fishing Derby, initiated by long-time Middle School teacher and former Assistant Principal, Rob Kozikowski (VC 1994). The winner of this annual derby receives the Frank Kearney (VC 1945) Memorial Trophy in honour of Frank who was an avid outdoorsmen and supporter of the school. This year also sees the first Alumni Hockey Game played.

On June 30th, the Vancouver College Alumni Association is incorporated as a Registered Society operating within the Society Act of British Columbia under the leadership of VC President David Hardy. The Association's First bylaws and Board of Directors are established with Greg Smyth (VC 1990) elected as President.

John Nixon (VC 1969) becomes the first alumnus to serve as President of Vancouver College Limited.

In June, the Davenport Cup Soccer Tournament, in honour of long-time teacher and soccer coach Brian Davenport, is held. This game becomes an annual alumni event held during Mayfair.

The tradition of gifting an alumni pin to graduates at commencement begins, with an official Alumni Address given by an executive of the Alumni Association during brunch with the senior class.

The Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament is relaunched in September at the Marine Drive Golf Course, organized by Stephen Farris (VC 1996) and Co-Presidents Mark Reid (VC 1986) and Stephen Jagger (VC 1996) to benefit the Vancouver College Financial Assistance Program.

VC Alumni are invited back to campus on June 23, 2018 to take a final tour of the old historic buildings before they are demolished to make way for the new seismically upgraded elementary school and administration offices. Over 500 VC graduates came for one last look around Lannon, McCormack, Mackin and Nichol Halls and to reconnect with classmates and friends from their days in these buildings.

The VC Wheelmen cycling team is founded by former VCAA President, Peter Fahrmann (VC 1990), and VCAA hosts its inaugural, sold out, Irish Christmas Luncheon held on December 5th at the Terminal City Club.

Inscribed pavers in the VC Alumni Corridor, directly behind the original Lannon Hall facade, are installed over the Christmas holidays. The Corridor, rich in history with names of alumni from all decades, is a tribute to all alumni who collectively forge the legacy of Vancouver College.

Over 3,000 alumni, students, past and current families, current and former staff, and friends of the school attend the Centenary Homecoming and Kickoff Party on September 24th. The weekend festivities start with the Hall of Honour induction and Honorary Alumni graduation Friday night, and the following day opens with an Alumni Breakfast, campus tour, and Homecoming Football Game. The Kickoff Party after the game is a collaboration between the school, VC Alumni Association, and VC Parents Association. The festivities include food trucks, carnival games, fun foods, cake walk, and culminate with the celebration’s grand finale of the spectacular fireworks rising over Lannon Hall and the figure of Christ the King.
